Shane Stewart is the Vice President of Maritime Operations at AVMAC, having joined the company as Aviation Facilities Program Manager in February 2022. With more than a decade of maritime experience, Shane has advanced from waterfront liaison and junior electrical engineer to lead waterfront electrical engineer and aviation facilities program manager before stepping into executive leadership. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Shipboard Power from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Old Dominion University.
Before joining AVMAC, Shane spent seven years at Newport News Shipbuilding. There he led waterfront engineering for the CVN 78 Advanced Weapons Elevators through Navy certification and supported CVN electrical overhaul design. At AVMAC, he has led Recovery, Assist, Traversing, and Securing (RAST) system overhauls on DDG and CG class ships and supported aviation facility assessments across multiple hull designs.
His technical expertise spans shipboard power generation and distribution, PLC and communications troubleshooting, and aviation facility systems integration. Shane's background also includes program cost and budget development, workforce planning, scheduling, quality assurance, technical writing, and building productive relationships with Contracting Officers and CORs. He is known for leading teams to deliver first-time quality and for building up the skills and confidence of the people he works with. His hands-on shipyard experience and commitment to developing others make him a valuable asset to the AVMAC team.
When he's not at work, you can find Shane cheering on his favorite sports teams, running throughout the Hampton Roads area, or coaching his kids' sports teams.
