  • Managing Alteration Installation Teams in SHIPALT installation projects; possess experience and understanding of, and demonstrated compliance with, standard Naval ship repair policies, procedures, waterfront operations requirements at typical US Navy bases and shipyards, NAVSEA Standard Items, and NAVSEA Technical Specification 9090-310 (current revision).
  • Direct and manage the development, design, modification, repair, overhaul, fabrication, installation, testing, evaluation, and/or operation of electrical, electronic, avionics, mechanical, communications, stores, armament systems or related data processing systems for US Navy ships, military weapon systems, associated support equipment or facilities, automotive or small craft.
  • Direct and manage the maintenance, repair, inspection, and/or troubleshooting of program equipment and components.
  • Review, analyze, develop, prepare or apply engineering, technical or maintenance specifications, NAVSEA Standard Items, policies, standards, or procedures.
  • Organize, analyze, and prepare reports or presentation of technical data and information. Plan and perform tests and evaluations on systems, equipment or components.
  • Compile, process, reduce, and analyze test data and results.
  • Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving sequence of related operations.
  • Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments and receiving explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy at completion.


Provide oversight, Quality Assurance surveillance, and administrative reporting IAW NAVSEA 9090-310 and Navy Standard Items of the following actions:

  • US Navy shipboard Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and components to include system operations, maintenance on both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Responsible for scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, quality control, supervising, assisting in cost control and ensuring the safety of all contractor personnel in the workforce.
  • Responsible for critically reviewing drawings and compiling data for Bills of Materials (BOMs), Plans of Actions & Milestones (POA&Ms) and labor requirements.
  • Responsible for complying with work project plans and schedules.
  • Support assessments provide technical assistance during the troubleshooting of failed shipboard mechanical systems.
  • Assist in the training of other technicians.
  • Ensuring contractor personnel under your direction are properly qualified, and perform activities to ensure all installation and repair tasks are completed on schedule and in accordance with technical requirements.
  • Comply with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA), Navy and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Vendor supplied safety regulations, NAVSEA Standard Items, applicable Work Procedures and AVMAC’s Quality Control Plan.
  • Provide redlined changes to drawing packages and instructions (if applicable) to the Shipboard Integration Director.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance Test and Inspection (T&I) Plans are accomplished with approved drawings, NAVSEA Standard Items (NSIs) and applicable Government/commercial standards and specifications.
  • Perform validations/verifications of various shipboard mechanical systems.
  • Perform or coordinate test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks.
  • Provide full support in the assignment, direction, and completion of maintenance objectives.
  • Comply with all maintenance, administration, and operational procedures as established.


  • Maintain tool accountability of all personal and company related tools.
  • Scrupulously follow all electrical tag-out procedures.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all NAVSEA Standard Items, Safety, Quality Control, FOD, Tool Control, HAZMAT/ HAZWASTE, NAVOSH procedures related to work assigned.
  • Enforce all company programs and directives as required to ensure safe and efficient maintenance operations.
  • Possess the ability to manage assigned contractor personnel in the support of daily maintenance actions, managing all aspects of local company and command policies and administrative processing as set forth for safe and efficient maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance actions are always assigned to qualified personnel . When complete, verify the correctness of any maintenance related documentation to ensure assigned maintenance actions were performed properly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with and work in support of respective ship’s force personnel, possessing and applying relevant skills and knowledge in support of all HM&E related maintenance operations.
  • Provide full support in the assignment, direction, and completion of maintenance objectives.
  • Comply with all maintenance, administration, and operational procedures as established.
  • Act as a liaison between contracted labor employees and ship’s force personnel to ensure continuity and mutual support and that the maintenance effort is a coordinated process.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and support all required maintenance actions with AVMAC’s Ship Integration Director.
  • Compile and present information to ship’s force personnel and to the PM as required.
  • Work independently with minimal direction.
  • Interpret drawings and schematics for work assigned.
  • Receive and route communications to AVMAC personnel as required.
  • Travel and support all AVMAC maintenance operations as directed.
  • Comply with policies and procedures as set forth in AVMAC’s Employee Handbook, Work Procedures, and Quality Control Plan.
  • Work, cooperate and communicate, as directed by the Ship Integration Director, with other supervisors, team leaders, and coworkers satisfactorily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program/Project Manager or Ship Integration Director.


This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. May be required to climb ladders, operate from heights, walk or crawl in the dark along narrow and uneven surfaces. May be required to work in industrial areas that are noisy and dusty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, when applicable.
